"Pinata" was a school project where we had to create an ad in 2 months for an imaginary product. The challenge was that we needed to create a product from 2 randomly picked words. Me and my 3 other teammates picked "Hot Sauce" and "Pinata". Lucky for us, those 2 words were quite easy to work with.
So, we decided to create an ad where our product would be a subscription box with randomly picked hot sauce from mild to super hot. We wanted something joyful and fun to look at, so our idea was to create some sort of a cheap theatre stage where our sauce's ingredients would move and dance. The props in the scene were meant to look like cheap but effective props in low budget (very low) team. That's why we went for the cardboard look.
From conception to realization, it was a difficult but fun challenge.
My contribution is mainly in shading/texturing, lighting and FX. I also was in charge of the pipeline and the rendering on the newly tested render farm me and another student worked on.
Enjoy
Lookdev of the ingredients made mostly inside Redshift with noises and procedural patterns. Looking back at it, it was an unnecessary extra challenge, but I've learn through it.
